Leadville, CO, Mission Trip 2010
Our trip to Leadville Colorado was fabulous! We worked harder than expected but I think I can speak for all that were there, the experience was uplifting and very rewarding! The smiles on the children's faces were priceless! Though there were not many in attendance I know that our youth touched the lives of those children and helped them to feel God's love! We scraped, sealed and painted the youth cabin at the church, the manse (the ministers' home owned by the church) and the home of an elderly man. Following are some of the reflections provided by our youth.
Reflections
"This week was full of hard work that we finished together. This week we all bonded with each other and learned new things about everyone and everything. We learned how to work together and played games to show us that we could use in life to show people that we are Christians by our love." ~ Jacklyn
"The trip was amazing! We had lots of fun! The work we did made the people of Leadville happy! Their smiles made everyone feel good!" ~ Brianna
"The week was a lot of fun through all the work." ~ Grant
"The biggest impression on me this week was helping paint the buildings and seeing how happy the people were." ~ Zachary
"This week at Leadville was not only rewarding but fun, and I really built a stronger relationship with my church family. It was so amazing to change the lives of not only Bob, our out-of-church guy that we helped, but the six little kids who attended VBS. It was great to see the faces of the children light up when they saw the decorations and heard the music. Bob was so appreciative of the work we did on his house. I am so happy I could help improve all of these people's lives." ~ Anna

"This week was full of fun, exhaustion, beauty, excitement, hope, love, faith, compassion, and hard but fulfilling work. Seeing the impact we had on the six kids at VBS and the people in the community was simply amazing! Leadville is absolutely one of God's most beautiful creations, and it was wonderful to contribute through our service!" ~ Christie
"During this past week, I have been angry, tired, overheated and cold. But despite all the troubles, I feel like we accomplished a lot. I especially felt good painting Bob's house. Seeing his face when he saw his house was amazing. When we were done, he brought us 7-up. I went with him to get cups, and he showed me this clipboard that listed all his medication that he takes in one day. When I saw that, I knew that I had really done something worthwhile." ~ Socorro
"The biggest impression I had this week was how the kids learned and enjoyed VBS, how they learned about God, and how excited they were to know how much God loves them." ~ Henry
"This week we worked very hard painting and working. We also learned a lot over the week. We had a really fun time going to different places in our free time. We worked together to accomplish the activities we were supposed to do." ~ Katie
"This week was hard work but I have never had so much fun doing work in my life! We got to know each other in different ways. We learned to trust each other and most of all we were closer to God! We met some awesome kids in VBS!" ~ Danielle
"It made me feel really good that we helped that old man when no one else would. The children (in VBS) changed me, not just me changing them! I feel like I've accomplished something BIG!" ~ Victoria
"During the trip, I watched everyone go through some sort of change. We realized how hard it is to trust and work with each other. We all made the people of Leadville know 'we are Christians by our love' by helping each other . I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church family!" ~ Jared
