Presbyterian Women
"Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witness to the promise of God's kingdom."
Presbyterian Women's Coordinating Team
PW spelled backwards is WP, or "Women with a Purpose"! We are looking for purposeful volunteers to join the Presbyterian Women's Coordinating Team (PWCT).
PWCT meets quarterly at times TBA to plan activities and projects upcoming missions, activities, and events for Presbyterian Women.
New ideas are so important to keep us vibrant and in tune with the needs of our community. Please consider offering your time and talent to this Team.
For more information about PWCT and scheduled meetings and activities, email the group email Moderator Liz Bushma 892-1878.
Christmas Collection for A Peaceful Habitation Successful
Presbyterian Women collected items for A Peaceful Habitation Home and Aftercare Ministry during the holidays. Virginia Kelley headed up the project. "We collected a large amount of personal and paper products, as well as garbage bags and twin-sized sheets", Virginia said. "We took two large boxes over right before Christmas. Thank you to all who contributed to this effort."
Regular Meetings and Events
Our meetings, programs and events are open to all women. We organize the Annual Craft Fair, usually held the 2nd Saturday in November. In addition to the PWCT meeting on the first Saturday of the month, Presbyterian Women have:
the Dorcas Circle meeting the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM for Bible study.
the Mary/Martha Circle meeting the last Sunday of the month after Worship.
Both Circles are using the Horizons study, "Dispatches to God's Household: The General Epistles".
the annual Birthday Offering, tentatively scheduled April 14, held in celebration of the blessings in our lives. Since 1922, the Birthday Offering has provided and continues to provide much-needed financial assistance to numerous worthwhile programs not included in ongoing General Assembly mission support. This year's total was $318.
- the annual Presbyterian Women Thank Offering held in November. Begun in 1888, this Offering was started to help the world-wide missionary movement of the day. The use of the money has changed over the years, but a thank offering to the Lord continues to be an important part of women's giving by United Presbyterian Women. The offering helps here in the U.S. as well as abroad.
